JEFFERSON COUNTY GENWEB

This Jefferson County GenWeb site, created by the late Bill and Nan Dixon, is managed by Bruce Coyne and not the JCNYGS. Several members of JCNYGS do submit material from time to time, however for specific GenWeb questions and comments, contact Bruce Coyne at elmflats@aim.com.

ARTICLE REQUEST

We request members, both near and far, to submit a one or two-page genealogical article for an upcoming issue of the Informer. We would love to collect enough articles to last for one, two, or even three years to come. The best articles are ones submitted by members sharing genealogy and stories of your early Jefferson County ancestors.

Submit articles to Tom LaClair (tomlaclair624@yahoo.com) and Jerry Davis (maridavis@aol.com).

Respectfully, your JCNYGS Leadership

JCNYGS INFORMER

Our purpose is three-fold: first, to promote and encourage original genealogical research. The second purpose is to encourage and disseminate a greater knowledge of genealogy and its history in the county of Jefferson, State of New York. And the third purpose, to gather, preserve, and display and make available: genealogy information, manuscripts, papers, books, photographs, electronic data, and other records and materials relating to genealogy and history of Jefferson County, New York.

The Jefferson County New York Genealogical Society was formed in 1994 with six members attending the inaugural meeting August 8, 1994 at the Dillenbach Room of the Flower Memorial Library in Watertown. Those six were Maurice Herron of Bellville, Gus Rogers of Clayton, Mary Lou McCreadie of Adams, Helen McDonald of Alexandria Bay, and John and Ellen Bartlett of Syracuse.
